Let’s meet our Ironman !

1300 athletes, 2% of pros with a common challenge: to be a finisher of the 5th edition of the Monaco ironman 70.3. Some of them just want to cross the finishing line with fun and some others want to get a qualification for the upcoming world Ironman 70.3

Let’s introduce two athletes! First, he is a professional athlete. Second, she works in a clothing store. Dann Brooke (UK) 24 years old and Marisa Meredith (MON) 57 years old, two different lifestyles, only one passion: this wonderful triathlon. In about 2 days, he is going to run his 3rd Ironman 70.3 and she is going to run her fourth one. Their objectives: for Dann, to be in the top 5 and “to run a good race without any problems”; for Marisa: to be 1st of her age group (55-60!).

They are running the same race with different difficulties. Marisa is worrying about the bike rising in La Turbie by Laguet and the running part on Ostend Avenue. Dann is realizing his weak spot: the last 10 Kms by bicycle and the last 5 Kms of marathon.

To prepare this great event, Dann works out 28 hours per week! For Marisa, time is precious between her job, her family and the triathlon. She practices these 3 disciplines 2 or 3 times per week. They are sharing a common point: no special diet. By the way, Dann needs “many” calories per day to be in a good shape! Usually, an athlete can easily absorb 8000 calories daily. After Monaco, our pro hopes to fly away towards Florida for the world Ironman 70.3 Championship in Clearwater in November 14th, 2009.

Then for our other competitor, everything will depend on her budget and on her job. But she already dreams to register for the Ironman Nice in 2010.

To know their future performances, let’s meet on Sunday, 7am to the Larvotto beach!
