The Relay Challenge: 300% emotion guaranteed!

The Monaco Ironman 70.3 will take place on Sunday 7 September 2008. This long distances triathlon consisted of 1.9km of swimming, 90km of cycling and 21.1km of running.

In the heart of this international competition including more than 1100 triathletes, a new Challenge is born for this 4th edition: the Relay Challenge, consisting of racing the three disciplines in team of three.

In the heart of Monaco Ironman 70.3, a new competition is born this year. It is the Relay Challenge, an event in relay by a team of three people consisting of a swimmer, a cyclist and a runner. The race is the same for the teams as it is for the individuals. The program, the distances, the departure, everything is identical! Clubs, corporates, associations, friends, families are welcome! Three categories will be represented: Male Team, Female Team and Mixed Team. Everybody can enter and participate according to their objectives and desires.

The functioning is simple. Each team will receive one timing chip. This chip has to be given from one team member to the next in the designated area in the transition area. Team medals and certificates will be specifically for teams only and the Awards Ceremony will take place on Sunday evening at the Chapiteau Fontvieille. It is really a real competition inside the Monaco Ironman 70.3.

To date, 27 teams have are already registered and are waiting for the challenge of the other competitiors. As is the case of Team Phuket Coconuts who have come all the way from Thailand and are connected by their friendship: “We look forward to participating in Ironman Monaco 70.3 this year as a "Mixed Team"!! We also hope to have many competitors to challenge!”. Other teams will be present and motivated to win the 1st title of this event, as both teams of the Carabiniers du Prince: “The sport requires an iron will and endurance and will increases concentration, motivation and determination – all of which is beneficial to our every day work.”
