Alexandra Louison back in Monaco on Sunday!
The winner of the first edition of the Monaco Ironman 70.3 is back. Alexandra Louison will race the Formula 1 of Triathlon next Sunday and attempt to stay ahead on the race.
. The Monaco Ironman 70.3 is the Ironman 70.3 with the strongest field of professional athletes, and with Alex’s participation, a new level of dynamism will be added to the women’s race. It will become a perfect preview to the Ironman World
“I took my time to make the decision; I needed to see how I would recover from Embrun. But now I know I am ready to race in Monaco. I won the first edition, and in June I won the Ironman France in Nice. Third time is a charm they say!” flirts Alex with the victory in Monaco on Sunday. Certainly her participation will add a level of suspense to the women’s race. A duel on the run leg can be expected between her and Erika Csomor, the long distance duathlon vice-champion from Hungary.
Alexandra Louison originates from Saint Etienne but lives in Antibes, so she knows the Alpes Maritimes intimately. The 25year old loves nature and since she obtained her degree in Commerce, she concentrates completely on her big passion – being triathlon. She was national duathlon champion in 2005 and 2006 and best French female at the Hawaii Ironman World Championships in 2006.
Erika Csomor is not unfamiliar with the Monaco Ironman either. The former Duathlon World & European Champion placed 3rd in last year’s edition in the Principality. Earlier this year she won the Austria Ironman 70.3 in St. Pölten. “I come to Monaco to win this time” she says after her training camp in St. Moritz.
The Monaco Ironman 70.3 will take place for the third time on September 2nd. The middle distance triathlon entailing 1.9km swim, 90km cycle and 21.1km run will lead athletes through the Principality on the Côte d’Azur and the hinterland of Nice. Each of the three disciplines is a challenge of its own – the open water swim in the Mediterranean, the bike ride through the hills and villages with the charm of Southern France and the half marathon retracing the Formula 1 circuit in the heart of Monte Carlo. The Finishline is situated between the world famous Hotel de Paris and the Casino of Monaco.
The Monaco Ironman 70.3 starts at 07h00. Already 800 athletes representing 45 nationalities will race the Formula 1 of Triathlon to grab one of 100 slots for the Ironman World Championship 70.3 in Clearwater Florida 2007. The Monaco Ironman 70.3 offers an additional 30 slots for the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii 2008.
